Your Frequently Asked Questions About Our Painting Services
At Mr. G Painting & Contracting we are a Westchester County and New York City professional painting company with a team of experienced house painters who will manage your housing project from its beginning all the way to its completion. We will do the necessary work to prepare your space for a fresh coat of paint.
What we do ask is that you move your valued possessions 2 to 3 feet from walls or place them in another room before we arrive. Otherwise we will protect them from paint drops and overspray with tarps if the space is available.
We will also lay down plastic sheets to protect your floors and tape off areas not being painted. For example, windows and brick walls. We then proceed to fix dents, holes and any cracks on your walls and we then sand the surface smooth before we commence the first coat of paint.
The amount of time it takes to paint your house depends on its size. As you know painting a large house will take longer than painting a smaller house or an apartment.
However, some things to consider when estimating a timeline include, the number of rooms and the amount of prep work that needs to be done. Another important consideration when estimating how long it will take to paint your home is the number of coats of paint that are going to be needed to complete the job. This is important because each coat needs to dry before painting the next coat.
First and foremost, the quality of the paint is a huge factor.
With that said, the second and third factors are exposure and activity. For example, an office, child’s bedroom, or hallway that experience ongoing traffic and occupancy should be painted every 2 to 3 years.
Whereas kitchens, bathrooms and laundry rooms that experience moisture and extreme temperatures should be painted every 3 to 4 years. Other interior rooms, for example, living rooms, dining rooms and adult bedrooms can be painted every 5 to 7 years.
As for the exterior of your home or business, generally, they should be painted every 5 to 10 years.
